To commemorate this years May Day, the artist Cold War Steve has created a special giant Postcard Art-piece (A4). ‘May Day in Morecambe’ features the Winter Gardens and Marine Road of 1960s Morecambe - populated with merry May Day figures - such as Morris Dancers - and somewhat unsettling Pagan ritual figures, such as a wicker man and Syd Little.
The lurid postcard colours of the past, percolate through to the present - via a polyphyletic fungi consuming Morris Man - to the May Day of the mind. The May Day of lockdown.
These glossy A4 sized postcards are frameable artworks in their own right, but can of course also be sent-on to loved ones as an actual postcard - spreading Beltane blessings, hopes and good vibes.
* £5 from each sale will go to The Trussell Trust, to contribute towards the fantastic, nationwide work they do, in providing emergency food and support to people locked in poverty.
The postcards will be going to print on Monday (4th May). We’re hoping that we’ll get them back at the end of next week and be able to start shipping the w/c Monday 11 May, all being well. Realistically though we’re saying delivery will be end of May!
